4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor (4-MBC) in cosmetics

4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor, also called 4-MBC, is prohibited in cosmetic products in the EU under Regulation (EU) 2024/996. The rule follows an SCCS opinion that could not conclude on safety because the data were insufficient to fully evaluate potential genotoxicity.

Titanium dioxide (E171) in food

Titanium dioxide, listed as E171, is not authorised for use in food in the EU. EFSA concluded in 2021 that it could no longer be considered safe as a food additive because a concern for genotoxicity could not be ruled out.

Aspartame (E951) in food

Aspartame is identified as E951 in the EU additive framework. Conditions of use depend on the food category.

Erythritol (E968) in food

Erythritol is listed as E968 in the EU additive framework. The applicable conditions are tied to the use described in the official entry.

EU fragrance-allergen labelling

EU cosmetic rules set the framework for ingredient declarations and restrictions, including requirements changed through amendments.

Acceptable daily intake

An acceptable daily intake is a health-based guidance value used in food-safety risk assessment, not a personal consumption target.
